Students from the Gulf Coast Apply to
Norfolk State University for Admission
Norfolk, Va.— Norfolk State University officials
announced today that the registration deadline for
students displaced by Hurricane Katrina will be
Wednesday, Sept. 14. Nearly 30 students from the
hurricane stricken Gulf Coast area have inquired about
admissions to Norfolk State University. Currently, NSU
has enrolled 12 students from the colleges and
universities of Xavier and Southern. Under the
authorization of the Governor’s Executive Order #97, NSU
has waived tuition and other fees for these students.
University departments continue to work with current NSU
students whose hometowns are located in Mississippi,
Alabama and Louisiana.
NSU students, faculty, and staff are rallying to the
cause of our students impacted by this disaster by
donating money, starting food and clothing drives, and
volunteering with community disaster relief
organizations.
The need is still great and we need your help.
Contributions should be made to the Norfolk State
University Foundation for the Hurricane Victims Relief
