NSU Press Release
Free HIV Testing at NSU on
Feb. 7th
Norfolk, Va.—In commemoration of National
Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, Norfolk State University and
the Tidewater AIDS Community Task Force (TACT) will host “No
Blood, No Needles, No Money,” a free HIV testing and
information clinic, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, February
7 in the old Norfolk Community Hospital Parking lot, which
is located on Corprew Ave.
Co-sponsored by the NSU Office of Student Affairs and the
Spartan Health Center, the clinic is designed as a vehicle
to increase community awareness about AIDS/HIV and to
provide a public service to solve an epidemic. The HIV
testing clinic will be conducted using the saliva test
method, and testing and counseling services will be
conducted by healthcare workers from TACT, an AIDS service
organization that provides free services to individuals
infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. These services include
case management for those living with HIV, prevention
education for the community, and free HIV testing. All
information and testing is completely confidential.
For more information, contact the Spartan Health Center at
623-3090.
