Outreach  Services Sponsors Community Day Event

 Norfolk, Va.— Norfolk, Va.—Norfolk State University’s Office of Community and Outreach Services (NSU COS) will sponsor a Community Day on Saturday, Aug. 28, on the lawn near the Phyllis Wheatley Residence Hall. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

 Free and open to the public, the Community Day was organized to celebrate the new academic year for faculty, staff and students, as well as to welcome the community-at-large. There will be food and fun activities for all ages, including games, music, entertainment and prizes. The NSU COS 2004 Entrepreneur Awards will also be presented to three local small minority businesses.

Co-sponsored by the Brambleton Community Outreach Center, local civic leagues, BB&T Bank, and a HUD federal grant, Community Day will provide participants information about NSU COS sponsored programs, community housing, and health and wellness.

In addition to the Community Day activities, the Brambleton Community Outreach Center is also collecting school supplies for local youth.  School supply donations may be dropped off at the Center daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. All items will be distributed at the Community Day event.
