Sounds of Success (SOS) Band Slated to
Perform during NSU’s Annual Green and Gold Ball
Norfolk, Va.—The S.O.S. Band will be the featured entertainment for
Norfolk State University’s 4th Annual Green and Gold Ball at the
Portsmouth Renaissance Hotel and Waterfront Conference Center Saturday,
March 27. The festivities will begin at 6 p.m. with a reception followed
by dinner, the Forever Upward Awards Ceremony and dancing to the Sounds of
Success.
Formed in 1977 in Atlanta, Ga., the S.O.S. Band became
famous for a brand of music that combines rhythm and blues and pop into a
collection of some of the most positive and uplifting songs in the music
business. Five S.O.S. albums made the top Billboard charts. The group is
known for the hits Take Your Time (Do It Right), Just Be Good To Me and
Tell Me If You Still Care. After several changes in the band’s roster of
members, the S.O.S. has come full circle and reunited the original members
of the group. The band hooked up with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, who wrote
and produced the hit single High Hopes. The Take Your Time (Do It Right)
single climbed to the number one position on the pop, soul and disco
charts and sold more than two million copies.
