NORFOLK STATE SIFE TEAM TO CONDUCT
BUSINESS PLANNING WORKSHOP AT ST. BRIDES CORRECTIONAL CENTER
Norfolk, Va.— The Norfolk State University Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) Team will participate in St. Brides Correctional Center’s “African-American Achievement” Program to be held in honor of Black History Month Thursday, Feb.13.
The NSU SIFE Team will conduct a workshop on “How to Write a Business
Plan.” This workshop was developed in response to the inmates expressed interest in developing their own small businesses upon their release. Joint teams of students from the Schools of Business, Science and Technology, Social Work and Liberal Arts will facilitate the workshops, which are designed to enhance inmate academic and practical knowledge.
The NSU SIFE Team is housed in the School of Business and Entrepreneurship under the direction of Dr. Denise Thompson, Sam Walton Fellow. This year, more then 50 students have developed and conducted educational projects in settings ranging from elementary schools to high technology incubators. The St. Bride’s project is co-directed by Tammy Jolley, NSU’s Business Counselor in the Small Business Resource Center.
