Gwendolyn Goldsby Grant to Speak at
NSU December Commencement
Norfolk, Va.— Gwendolyn
Goldsby Grant, a psychologist, educator, lecturer, consultant and
advice columnist for Essence Magazine, will speak to
approximately 400 graduates at Norfolk State University’s
commencement ceremony, scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 14, at
Joseph G. Echols Memorial Hall. The procession will begin at 9:30
a.m.
A strong sex education advocate and noted
consultant for Fortune 500 companies, Grant is the author of The
Best Kind of Loving, a best selling book about healing
male/female relationships. She specializes in assertiveness training,
affirmative action seminars, multicultural issues, parenting
workshops, human sexuality, sexual harassment, leadership and life
skills development, and theology of hope for critical times. Her
philosophy is One Woman Can Make a Difference and she operates
on the premise that whatever the mind can conceive, heart believes,
the hands can achieve.
On the lecture circuit, Grant is called The
Energizer for the enthusiasm, motivation and inspiration that she
brings to life. Her monthly Between Us column in Essence
Magazine is read by more than 7.5 million readers and she also
does guest appearances on television and radio, including Montel
Williams, Good Morning America, The Oprah Winfrey Show, The News Hour
on PBS, National Public Radio, Ricki Lake and Black Entertainment
Television.
Grant earned a bachelor of science degree, two
master’s degrees, a doctorate in theology and a second doctorate in
education. She is a member of Phi Delta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi Honor
Societies, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the National Council of
Negro Women, the National Association of Black Journalists and a host
of other local and national organizations.
She is the wife of Ralph Thomas Grant and the
mother of three adult children.
