Sanders & Gray Chosen to MEAC Football Preseason First Team;
Naji and Gibson Selected to Second Team

Norfolk, Va.—

Norfolk State University seniors Brent Sanders and Marcus Gray have been selected to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) 2002 Pre-season Football First Team. Sanders, a 6-2, 270-pound defensive lineman from Brevard, NC, was the squad's fifth-leading tackler last year with 42 tackles (30 solo). Last year, he earned Second Team All-MEAC honors at right tackle. Gray, a 6-0, 205-pound defensive back from Winston-Salem, NC was the team's leading tackler last year with 67 tackles (55 solo).

Two NSU players were selected to the MEAC Pre-season Second Team. Junior Terrence Gibson and senior Jamal Naji were chosen to the offense and defense teams respectively.

Naji, a 6-4, 275-pound defensive lineman from Atlantic City, NJ was the team's fourth-leading tackler with 57.5 tackles (44 solo). Gibson, a 6-4, 295-pound offensive lineman from Baltimore, MD started all 11 games for NSU at right tackle.

Norfolk State will open up the 2002 season on August 31st as they host state-rival Virginia State in the annual "Labor Day Classic". Game time is set for 7:00pm.
