Spartans Predicted to Finish Eighth in MEAC Football

Norfolk, Va.

The Head Football Coaches and Sports Information Directors of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference have picked Norfolk State University to finish eighth in the upcoming 2002 football season.

Last Year, the Spartans finished with a 5-6 overall record and were tied for fifth place in the MEAC with a 3-5 conference record. The Spartans did receive one first place vote and tallied 63 points out of maximum 288 points.

Florida A&M University was the top choice, as they look to repeat as league champions for the second consecutive year. The Rattlers received 12 of the 18 first place votes and accumulated 254 points of a maximum 288. North Carolina A&T was picked to finish second, while cross-town rival Hampton garnered the third slot. Rounding out the top five were Bethune-Cookman and South Carolina State.

Delaware State was picked sixth, while Howard and Morgan State were selected to finish seventh and ninth.
