NSU to Host Golden Key International Honour Society Mid-Atlantic
Regional Conference
April 6-8 Norfolk, Va.-The Norfolk State University chapter of Golden
Key International Honour Society will host the Golden Key 2001 Mid-Atlantic
Regional Conference April 6-8 at the Radisson Hotel, located in downtown
Norfolk. The honor of hosting is awarded to the most outstanding applicant
in the Mid-Atlantic region each year.
The weekend-long event will begin at 8 p.m., Friday, April 6 with Chesapeake
Mayor William E. Ward's official greeting on behalf of the Hampton Roads
region. This year's conference theme is Charting a New Course: Setting
Sail for Success. The conference will serve as a training ground and
motivational tool for participants, and a time to celebrate the accomplishments
of the year.
The conference will bring together more than 100 chapter members, officers
and advisors from 19 colleges and universities within the Mid-Atlantic
Region. It will also provide collegiate chapter members the opportunity
to meet other outstanding Golden Key members, visit the City of Norfolk
and gain leadership training through workshops and networking.
Golden Key International Honour Society, previously the Golden Key National
Honor Society, is a non-profit organization that recognizes the top
15 percent of juniors and seniors in all fields of study at more than
300 colleges in the United States, Australia, Canada, Malaysia, South
Africa and New Zealand.
The mission of the Society is to recognize and encourage scholastic
achievement and excellence in all fields of study, to unite with faculty
and administrations in developing and maintaining high standards of
education, to provide economic assistance to outstanding members by
means of both undergraduate and graduate scholarships and to promote
altruistic conduct through voluntary service.
