Norfolk State University Appoints New Vice President For Research and Technology

Norfolk, Va.- Norfolk State University has appointed Adebisi Oladipupo as its new vice president for research and technology, effective Sept. 1. Oladipupo has been with Norfolk State University since August 2000. In his previous position he served as the Associate Vice President for Research and Technology. He came to NSU from Hampton University.

His new duties will include revamping the University's website and Internet infrastructure. Oladipupo will also be instrumental in the development of the University's RISE (Research and Innovation to Support Empowerment) Center. RISE will be an intergenerational, multipurpose education and research facility.

Oladipupo received his bachelor of science degree in material science in 1980 from the University of Ife, Nigeria. He also received masters of science and the doctor of science degree in materials engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Oladipupo has been successful in securing research and educational training grants from diverse funding agencies and private industry. He has designed developed, and implemented computer applications for self-paced learning and distance learning. In addition, he has co-authored three engineering textbooks in computer aided design, and has published and presented his work at national conferences.

Among his other accomplishments, Oladipupo has served as a technical reviewer for the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Department of Education, U.S. Department of Commerce and major textbook publishers. He has been a consultant for companies such as International Business Machines, Lucent Technologies and Motorola, Inc.
