NSU President Marie V. McDemmond Named Iota Phi Lambda's Woman of the Year Norfolk, Va.-Norfolk State University President Marie V. McDemmond will be named Iota Phi Lambda Business Sorority, Inc., Alpha Chi chapter's Woman of the Year at its annual business program and luncheon Saturday, April 7.The luncheon, which will begin at 1 p.m., will be held at the Norfolk Airport Hilton, located on North Military Highway.Iota Phi Lambda's National Business Month is sponsored each year in April to stimulate interest in business education and to give recognition to women who have made outstanding achievements in the field of business. McDemmond is being recognized for her outstanding achievements in the community and for her service to Norfolk State University. Founded in 1929, Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc., a business and professional Sorority, is a business sorority with more than 5000 members in 100 chapters throughout the United States, the District of Columbia, and St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. Iota Phi Lambda is affiliated with the National Council of Negro Women, Inc. The cost for the luncheon is $20 for adults and $12.50 for children.
