Founders'
Day Convocation Kicks Off 65th Anniversary Celebration Sept. 17 Norfolk, Va.- As part of Norfolk State University's 65th Anniversary celebration, the Founders' Day Convocation will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17 at Joseph G. Echols Memorial Hall. The convocation, which is free and open to the public, will honor Norfolk State University's Founders and other individuals who have made significant contributions to the evolution of the university. In addition, new students will be formally welcomed and inducted into the university family. The Founders' Day program will also include an inspirational affirmation by St. Paul Epps, the first student to enroll and pay tuition at Norfolk State and an unveiling of a bust of Samuel F. Scott, the first director of Norfolk State. Other 65th Anniversary activities include the Emerald Anniversary Green and Gold Ball and silent auction on Nov. 3. In addition to the activities, a historical calendar of NSU will be released in October along with a variety of 65th Anniversary memorabilia. All proceeds from the 65th Anniversary celebration will provide scholarships for deserving students.
