Census Bureau Grants NSU Status as
CIC
A Census Information Center (CIC) has
been established on the campus of Norfolk State University through
the Center for Applied Research and Public Policy (CARPP). Census
Information Centers are extensions of the U.S. Census data information
system. The CICs provide easy access to Census Bureau data for socio-economic
demographics, program planning needs assessment and other research
interests. The CIC will be located in NSU’s Lyman Beecher Brooks Library.

Olympians Gather At Norfolk State
Four Norfolk State alumni athletes will
be attending this weekend’s 65th Anniversary activities including
the Emerald Anniversary Green and Gold Ball, the homecoming parade
and football game. Chris Brown, Brian Lewis, Tim Montgomery and Chandra
Sturrup, all participants in the 2000 Olympics in Sydney last month,
will be on hand.

NSU Homecoming Activities
Begin
· November 2
Step Show featuring NSU fraternities
and sororities moving and stepping in synchronized coordination that
throws back to ancient African rhythms. The show begins at 8:00 p.m.,
Echols Hall.
· November 3
65th Anniversary Green & Gold Ball,
Chesapeake Conference Center, 7:00 p.m. Silent auction, dinner and
dance. Hosts for the evening’s affair are news anchors Regina Mobley
of Channel 13 and Don Roberts of WAVY TV 10.
· November 4
Homecoming parade begins at 8:59 a.m.,
on Corprew Avenue and heads west toward Park Avenue and then Virginia
Beach Blvd. NSU Olympians serve as grand marshals.
· November 4
Homecoming game between NSU and Morgan
State takes place at 1:30 p.m., in William L. “Dick” Price Stadium.
· November 4
Annual Homecoming Dance featuring the
delightful sounds of Midnight Love. The dance will be held from
10 p.m. - 2 a.m., at the Holliday Inn Greenbrier in Chesapeake.
· November 5
Gospel Concert featuring Natalie Wilson,
the NSU Gospel Choir, Andre Jones Fellowship and the Temple of Praise
Choir of Newark, New Jersey takes place at 4:00 p.m., in Echols Hall.

6th Annual Francine Kee Peterson
Memorial Scholarship Conference
· November 17
Sponsored by the Virginia Association
of Black Psychologists, the conference will be held at 8 a.m. in the
L. Douglas Wilder Performing Arts Center. This year’s topic is HIV/AIDS
in the African American Community: Issues and Prevention. It
will feature a variety of information sessions on HIV and AIDS, and
a panel discussion.
