NSU TO HOST
OPSAIL2000 RECEPTION AND ARTS EXHIBIT Norfolk, Va. --- Norfolk State University President Dr. Marie V. McDemmond is ready to host a fabulous OpSail2000 Reception and Arts Exhibit from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2000 in the L. Douglas Wilder Performing Arts Center. The university's maritime theme for the occasion is, "Sail Into the Future with NSU." The event has been planned primarily to help welcome members of the Virginia General Assembly; U.S. senators and congressmen from Virginia; area mayors, city managers and council members; commanding officers, other officers and crew members from the tall ships visiting the Port of Hampton Roads; and many others for OpSail2000. The university's activities are designed for participants to enjoy a variety of good music, a wholesome exchange of diverse ideas and interactions, hors d'oeuvres, displays and animated demonstrations which will make the arts come alive! The arts exhibit will feature the works of NSU faculty, students and other area artists. While the reception will be held in the magnificent Wilder Center, the arts exhibit will be down the corridor in the adjoining E. L. Hamm Fine Arts Building. The free event is by invitation only!
