Agency Awards Contract to According to Paula Shaw, director of the office for research, "The DIA is considered a non-traditional sponsor for historically black colleges and universities; yet, these awards clearly demonstrate the DIA's interest in capitalizing on the expertise which exists on our campuses." The contract is worth more than $70,000. It will fund the "Military Leadership Profile Contract," which involves research on lower priority countries and the "Global Coverage Project," which is centered around research on 65 world-wide countries. Utilizing the cross-disciplinary approach and drawing from the expertise of each individual team member, two teams have been assembled to generate the extensive research required to meet contract deliverables. Carol Pretlow will serve as project director. Her expertise in the areas of global perspectives, historical developments of political dissent and national security laws is in direct correlation to the requirements needed for this DIA effort. Other experts include Rudolph Wilson, chair of the political science department; Jesse Pendleton, professor of geography; Theodore Wynn, professor of political science; Brinston Collins, middle east and far east expert; and Johann Odom, special consultant. |
