NSU TO
HOST OPSAIL 2000 RECEPTION AND ARTS EXHIBIT
Norfolk, Va. --- Norfolk
State University President Dr. Marie V. McDemmond announced today her
plans to host a fabulous OpSail2000 Reception and Arts Exhibit from
5:30 - 7:30 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2000 in the L. Douglas Wilder Performing
Arts Center. The university's maritime theme for the occasion is, "Sail
Into the Future with NSU." The event will be designed primarily to help
welcome members of the Virginia General Assembly; U.S. senators and
congressmen from Virginia; area mayors, city managers and council members;
commanding officers and other officers and crew members from the tall
ships visiting the Port of Hampton Roads; and many others. The activities
being planned are intended for the participants to enjoy a variety of
good music, a wholesome exchange of diverse ideas and interactions,
hors d'oeuvres, displays and animated demonstrations which will make
the arts come alive! Also to enlighten those who attend culturally and
socially from an international perspective. The arts exhibit will feature
the works of NSU faculty, students and other area artists. While the
reception will be held in the magnificent Wilder Center, the arts exhibit
will be down the corridor in the adjoining E. L. Hamm Fine Arts Building.
The event is free and by invitation only. For more information about
