Norfolk State University is teaming up with the American Heart Association for its annual 2011 Heart Walk, which takes place at noon, Saturday, Sept. 24 at Mount Trashmore Park in Virginia Beach, Va. NSU has a goal of raising $25,000 to help stop one of the leading killers of African Americans.

Here is what you can do today:

• Create your team(s) (with friends, family, students, faculty and/or staff) and sign up online under Norfolk State University’s Heart Walk website at http://heartwalk.kintera.org/hamptonroadsva/norfolkstateuniversity .

• Recruit friends, family members, co-workers, or anyone else to walk with you or sponsor you (or your team) for the 2011 Hampton Roads Heart Walk.

• Attend the NSU Heart Walk Celebration event on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at William “Dick” Price Stadium. There will be health screenings, health organization and vendor booths, music, and lots of fun while we walk around the track.

• Monitor Norfolk State University’s progress in achieving its fundraising goal of $25,000.
