Network & Wireless
Systems Support is responsible for administration and
maintenance of the Norfolk State University’s
operational network and wireless systems
infrastructure. These systems include all copper and
fiber optic data wiring and the routers, switches and
wireless access points that allow NSU’s computer systems
to communicate both internally and to the Internet.
NSU deploys a
heterogeneous wireless infrastructure consisting of 120+
CISCO wireless access points and 5 Vivato outdoor panels
which together cover most student residential and
administrative buildings as well as the majority of the
surrounding green space. Wireless access is restricted
to NSU affiliates and it is protected though the use of
encryption and authentication.
