The Lyman Beecher Brooks Library will serve as a focal point for
information retrieval. It will provide electronic, traditional and human
resources to satisfy the education and research needs of the University
community.
The care and planning of the form in which knowledge is available is
the ongoing mission of the library.
The Library will be an "information center" through which students and
faculty can gain access to a vast array of information resources.
The Library must help students and faculty discover what relevant
information exists--anywhere in the world and in a variety of formats.

Objectives
Identify and develop strategies to concentrate on access and knowledge
management
Chart a course to make the fullest use of technology while preserving what
is best about the traditional formats.
Provide training to assist students in the more effective use of
technology to retrieve resources.
Utilize technology to deliver training and consulting to distant learners.
Provide an ongoing training program for library staff so that they are
proficient in the utilization of evolving access modes.
Strengthen the information sharing with other institutions.
