Computer Research Area

The Computer Research Area  (CRA)  is to assist students with research by searching the internet or the online databases in obtaining information for research and projects.  A Librarian/Library Specialist is available to guide the student in the right direction for informational needs. 

The area encompasses fifteen computers  and one network dedicated for research only.  The computers are available for students on a first-come first-serve basis for formal and informal instructions in library/bibliographic usage.

   
Project Enhancement Room Policy

The Project Enhancement Room is a service provided the Lyman Beecher Brooks Library to NSU faculty, staff, and currently enrolled students.  The room contains a typewriter, a computer and a video monitor, a scanner, and a printer.  The use of this room is restricted to the preparation of materials and projects related to the mission and purpose of Norfolk State University.

  1. A current, valid NSU identification card must be presented by the user when signing for the use of the room.
  2. No more than two (2) people may use the room at the same time.
  3. Use of the Project Enhancement Room is on a first come, first serve basis.
  4. The Project Enhancement Room may be used for a maximum of one hour.  A user may register for the room ten minutes prior to the end of the previous user's time.
  5. The Project Enhancement Room closes one hour prior to the closing time of the library.
  6. The Project Enhancement Room is kept locked when not in use.
  7. Use of the room for "entertainment" (i.e. chatting, games, listening to music, e-mailing, etc.) will result in forfeiture of room privileges.
  8. The Information Services Department will provide ten (10) sheets of paper for printing, if paper is available.  The user must provide additional paper.
  9. Downloading will be allowed to the A:\ drive or the Zip Drive only.  The user must provide storage media (3.5 inch diskettes or zip discs).
  10. If the equipment is not working properly, please come to the Information Service Desk for assistance.
