Interlibrary Loan
Interlibrary loan/Document Delivery Services provides access to materials
not available at Norfolk State University for users. Cooperative lending and
borrowing permits the Lyman Beecher Brooks Library to access library
collections locally and nationally on a reciprocal basis.
NSU faculty, staff, and students may borrow materials in various formats
such as books, articles, and films. Users fill out request forms kept in the
ILL office or at the Reference Service desk to obtain needed materials.
Upon receipt of requested material, the borrower
signs an agreement to:
- Be responsible for the safe-keeping of the material
- Return material by due date imposed by the lending library
- Abide by the copyright law which governs the use of the type of
material received
- All restrictions placed on material by lending libraries such as "for
use in library only", must be honored by borrowing libraries.
- Other libraries may borrow from the NSU library collection as well
- All requests for materials must be submitted through a participating
library and not the individual user
- Books are loaned to other libraries for a loan period of at least
thirty (30) days and may be renewed for an additional loan period except
when a hold has been placed on the item
- Photocopies are supplied free of charge and can be transmitted via fax
and the Ariel network.
