Research analysts who will advise researchers and students how census data might be structured to describe the demographic characteristics of various populations.
Publication of occasional papers on particular populations derived from census data, i.e., housing studies or environmental studies.
To conduct training workshops on the access and use of census data for the professional and lay communities To promote field services to communities whose interests are to understand and use select census data in order to conduct studies in their community.
To maintain a portfolio of census based research, projects and other programs and activities that have been conducted throughout the U.S. that may be useful to the Norfolk State University Census Information Center (CIC) community.

A collection of Census publications for the State of Virginia and selected regions throughout the U.S.
A collection of Census Electronic Data on CD ROM and DVD for the state of Virginia and other selected regions throughout the U.S.
A data retrieval and Research and Analysis site with a specific focus on internet based access to Census Data
Technical assistants trained to provide specific guidelines on how to access and interpret or understand census data
