OFFICE OF THE REGISTRAR
Associate Registrar
POSITION: Norfolk State University is a
Commonwealth of Virginia state-supported institution with an enrollment
of approximately 7,200 students. We provide 37 undergraduate, 14 masters
and two doctoral degree programs. We are currently inviting individuals
to apply for the position of Associate Registrar.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Associate Registrar is the senior staff
member of the administrative team for the Office of the Registrar and
reports to the Registrar. The Associate Registrar is responsible for
assisting with the daily operations including registration, student
records management, course scheduling, transfer evaluation, degree
audits, enrollment certifications, athletic eligibility and the
supervision of work activities of all staff and student workers. The
Associate Registrar will assist the Registrar in implementing and
monitoring compliance with all University policies and procedures
related to records and registration. In addition, he/she will assist in
the preparation of analysis and reports as needed, and the continuing
implementation of innovative technical solutions, including web-based
registration process.
QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree plus 2 or more years experience
in a college or university registrar’s office required; a history of
increasing responsibility including staff supervision is a plus;
thorough knowledge of and experience with policies, regulations and
academic standards, both internal to a traditional academic institution,
and external (e.g., federal laws affecting student records); experience
in student records and database management (preferably in a college or
university registrar’s office); proven leadership abilities and a
capability to work effectively with academic departments; experience and
proficiency in web applications; a commitment to quality service to
students, faculty and other constituents; excellent interpersonal
communication and analytical skills; substantial experience with
technology-based student information systems is required; and experience
using the Datatel Colleague Student Information System and web-based
applications for student enrollment services functions a plus.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
