ADMISSIONS COORDINATOR
Department of Nursing
POSITION: The School of Science and Technology seeks an outstanding
candidate for the position, Admissions Coordinator, Department of
Nursing. The Department of Nursing offers both Associate and Bachelors’
Degree Programs and admits approximately 150 students per year. The
Admissions Coordinator position is a twelve-month administrative faculty
appointment.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate for this position must be a
self-directed individual who can work collaboratively with faculty of
the Department of Nursing, other academic and support departments within
the University, and community agencies to recruit, select and assist in
the admission of qualified students. Specific responsibilities include
the following:
provide advisement and career counseling to prospective and enrolled
nursing students; plan and implement orientation sessions for
prospective nursing students; provide faculty orientation and
development sessions related to student assessment and advisement;
maintain databases on characteristics of applicants, enrolled students
and graduates and prepare statistical reports; serve as chair of the
Department’s Admissions, Promotion and Retention Committee; participate
in the systematic evaluation of student admission, promotion and
retention policies; develop and implement innovative and effective
recruitment programs to attract diverse learners; market the Department
of Nursing via attendance at career fairs and informational sessions;
and create quality
recruitment brochures and resource materials.
QUALIFICATIONS: Essential selection criteria for the position include
the following:
registered nurse with a record of scholarly achievement, service, and
commitment to the culture of inquiry; outstanding interpersonal, oral
and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to work
effectively with students; prior teaching experience in a university
environment; excellent analytical, computing, and problem solving
skills; strong organizational, time management, and event planning
skills.
SALARY/RANK: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
