Chemistry Department Head Position
POSITION: The School of Science and Technology seeks an imaginative leader as Head of the Chemistry Department at Norfolk State University. The Department offers an ACS certified undergraduate program. The Department has an outstanding record of research and grant funding in materials science and is presently establishing a Biotechnology Center.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties include providing vision, leadership, and direction in achieving the mission and goals of the Department. The department chair must work with faculty to identify and pursue innovations in teaching, research opportunities, industrial collaborations, and external funding sources. The chair is also expected to be actively engaged in teaching and research.
QUALIFICATIONS: The candidate must be eligible for the rank of associate professor or professor and have a demonstrated commitment to academic excellence. Candidates must have a record of successful teaching and scholarly achievement, research/publications and grantsmanship, and demonstrated managerial ability and well-developed human relations skills. A Ph.D. in analytical or bioanalytical chemistry is preferred.
SALARY/RANK: Salary and rank for this twelve-month position are commensurate with qualifications and experience.
