Computer Science Department Head

POSITION: The School of Science and Technology seeks an imaginative leader as Head of the Computer Science Department at Norfolk State University. The Department offers an ABET accreditation undergraduate program and will begin offering the M.S. degree in Computer Science in Fall 2003.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties include managing an academic department with 450 undergraduate majors; providing leadership for a new graduate program; and promoting and sustaining excellence in computer science education, scholarship, and research.

QUALIFICATIONS: An earned doctorate in Computer Science is required. The candidate must be eligible for the rank of associate professor or professor and have a demonstrated commitment to academic excellence. Candidates must have a record of successful teaching and scholarly achievement, research/publications and grantsmanship, and demonstrated managerial ability and well-developed human relations skills.

SALARY/RANK: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

EFFECTIVE DATE: January 1, 2004
