Poster & Poetry Competition Guidelines

The competition requires participants to design a poster, or write a poem based on any of the following themes:

African American civil rights, past and present.
Implicit and explicit promises of democracy since Jamestown
Artistic expressions of American democracy from minority perspectives
Images of African Americans in the media
Economic success in America: myths and realities
Global imprints of African American culture

Entries will be divided into three categories:

Middle

High School

College

Prizes: Gift certificates, poster displays, theme park tickets and more!

Judges will include artists and teachers from around Hampton Roads.
