In April 2007, Dr. Carolyn W. Meyers established a 28-member Campus Safety and Security Task Force that includes students, faculty, staff, alumni and community leaders. The Task Force has met eight times, not including the meetings of the six subcommittees.
An executive summary and the Task Force’s final recommendations were presented to the Office of the President on August 1, 2007. The report of your colleagues on the Task Force is thorough and thoughtful. Our plan included posting the report on the web for your review. I was so proud of it that I shared it with SCHEV and the Council of Presidents. My office looks forward to working with this Task Force during this academic year as we tackle the implementation of many of the recommendations.
