Association of Computing Machinery (ACM)

The Norfolk State University's Association for Computing Machinery is a student-run club with a focus on Computer Science dedicated to furthering the knowledge and advancement of computers and information technology through the free exchange of ideas and information.
As a chapter of the oldest computing society in the world, the NSU ACM is a place for diverse backgrounds and interests, and serves the NSU community as a whole.  ACM, the world’s largest educational and scientific computing society, delivers resources that advance computing as a science and a profession. Our student chapter serves as a gateway to forums, panel discussions, and symposia that further a student’s professional development. We focus on knowledge growth, professional development, and leadership.

  • Coastal Virginia Center for Cyber Innovation (COVA CCI) Graduate Student Experiential Learning Program

  • The 2021 conference of the Colloquium on Information Systems Security Education (CISSE) celebrates its 25th year as the senior and premier conference on Cybersecurity Education. The conference will be held in Nashville, TN, October 4th to 6h, 2021.

  • Cyber Summit 
    September 28-30, 2021
    National Cyber Summit is the nation’s most innovative cyber security-technology event, offering unique educational, collaborative and workforce development opportunities for industry visionaries and rising leaders. NCS offers more value than similar cyber conferences with diverse focus-areas, premier speakers, and unmatched accessibility. Our core focus is on three things: education, collaboration and innovation.

  • CNCL Spring 2021 Team Game
    The NCL Competition is powered by Cyber Skyline, a leading cloud-based cybersecurity skills evaluation platform offering a safe environment for students to practice their cybersecurity skills. Together with NCL, Cyber Skyline presents the biannual NCL Competition

  • Cyber Fusion 2022
    Due to COVID19, this event will not be held in 2021. We plan to hold the next one in February 2022. **

  • Mid- Atlantic Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (MACCDC)
    Virtual Qualifier Round: February 27, 2021
    Virtual Regional Finals: April 1-3, 2021
    National CCDC: April 23-25, 2021 

    The MACCDC provides hands-on application of information security skills to enhance students’ understanding of both theory and practice. The MACCDC fulfills the same role as a capstone project in a traditional cybersecurity academic program (i.e., projects that allow students to synthesize and integrate knowledge acquired through course work and other learning experiences into a project usually conducted in a workplace). Lastly, the MACCDC combines legal, ethical, forensics, and technical components while emphasizing a team approach.
