Contributions to NSU are accepted through the NSU
Foundation, Inc., a non-profit fundraising corporation established to
support quality education and to generate
private financial support for the academic
development of the University. The Foundation is
governed by an elected volunteer Board of Directors, whose members serve as
advocates for the University and its programs.
Some examples of how private giving has impacted NSU include a recent
commitment of $100,000 from an alumnus in order to establish a scholarship
to benefit engineering students. This new scholarship will positively impact
the lives of many aspiring engineers who will one day contribute to
communities around the world. NSU has also received a $500,000 commitment
toward an endowed professorship in the School of Business that will help
attract and retain the highest caliber faculty members to teach our future
business leaders.
The major giving areas for NSU are the Annual Fund, Major Gifts, and Planned
Giving. Annual Fund gifts are extremely important because they provide
continuous support to NSU. Alumni, faculty and staff, parents, and friends
of NSU are asked to make their financial commitment each year through
mailings or phone calls. For more information on the Annual Fund, please see Annual
Giving.

All gifts to NSU are
sincerely appreciated, but unrestricted giving (giving that is not
designated to any specific area or program of the University) is especially
important because it allows funds to be applied to the areas that have the
greatest and most critical need. Unrestricted gifts are often applied to
student financial aid, faculty support, building renovations, new academic
programs, and equipment purchases. These gifts allow NSU to manage
unexpected expenses or take advantage of new opportunities.
You may designate gifts in honor of or in memory of someone. A gift in
memory or in honor of a relative or a friend is a generous and thoughtful
way to recognize a person’s life and accomplishments. When a honorarium or a memorial gift is made, the Foundation will notify the honoree or next of
kin, and the gift is administered as the contributor specifies.

Major Gift often
provide the funding foundation for new academic programs or buildings that
truly enrich the student learning experience. For additional information,
see Major
Gifts.
