ABOUT THE EMPLOYEE OF
THE QUARTER
Mr. Darius L Blount,
Financial Aid Counselor, is being honored for his outstanding service and
dedication to Norfolk State University. He is being recognized as Enrollment
Management’s “Employee of the Quarter.” Mr. Blount has only been employed at NSU
a year, yet he sets an example for others. He is committed to serving numerous
students, parents, staff, faculty, administrators, and the community by showing
compassion, a winning attitude, and a winning smile to everyone he comes in
contact with at NSU.
Mr. Blount is a product of Maury High School located in
Norfolk, VA. He has lived in Norfolk all of his life. He is what you would call
a “Home Town Hero.” Mr. Blount is the oldest of 4 children and the father of 2
beautiful children, Jameer and Kyair.
Mr. Blount received his B.S. degree in Social Work from NSU in
2000. During his tenure at NSU, he was a member of the Spartan Football Team
(‘93-‘96) and the Spartan Basketball Team (CIAA CHAMPS in ‘96). He started off
as a walk-on but later earned a full scholarship and took off from there. He
finished his career at NSU as the # 2 receiver in school history in receptions
(256) and receiving yards (2,501). NOT BAD FOR A WALK-ON! He is currently
serving on the coaching staff of the football team.
Mr. Darius Blount is honored to be chosen as “Employee of the Quarter” and wants
to thank Enrollment Management for such an honor. “When I was hired at Norfolk
State University, I felt as if this was my dream job. Now I have come to
realize an important fact - NSU is where dreams come true!”

Selection Committee
The Selection Committee will be randomly selected by the
Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management quarterly.
