Dr. Washington received his BS from Hampton University in electrical engineering and ME and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from University of Virginia. His areas of research are artificial intelligence, neural networks, expert, digital signal processing and control engineering. He has extensive research experience in the areas of system design and analysis of LAN (Local Area Network) and WAN (Wide Area Network) systems in telecommunications environment. At Adroit Systems he was involved in design, development, production and performance evaluation of LAN and WAN systems. At BTG Inc. he worked in the areas of artificial intelligence and neural networks. Prior to joining Norfolk State University he served as Assistant Dean of Engineering and Technology and Chairman of Electrical Engineering department at Hampton University where he brought millions of dollars as external funding from Department of Defense and other funding organizations. Dr. Washington joined Norfolk State University as an Associate Professor in Fall 2002 and became chairman in Spring 2003.
