Dr.Morsi

Brief Biography

Dr. Morsi graduated from King’s College, University of London, with a first class honors B.Eng. degree in 1991. She received an ME in Computer Engineering and a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Old Dominion University, 1996 and 2002 respectively. She has extensive research experience in the areas of modeling and simulation, animation and gaming, e-learning, Formal Methods, and wireless communications. Dr. Morsi also conducts workshops that address integration of M&S in K-12 curricula, animation and gaming, and wireless technologies. In January 2008, she was named one of Diverse: Issues in Higher Education’s Emerging Scholars – one of ten selected nationwide. In 2007 she received the Norfolk State University ‘University Award of Excellence’ - an award given to a faculty member who has performed in a superior manner in teaching, scholarly activity, and service. It is one of the highest honors the University can bestow on one of its faculty. At the college level, she has been named Teacher of the Year, Top Engineering Faculty, and outstanding grantsmanship.

Dr. Morsi has led the development of numerous interactive web-based learning applications and games for electrical and computer engineering students. In 2000 she joined Old Dominion University as a lecturer in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Dr. Morsi joined Norfolk State University in the Fall of 2003 and is currently an Associate Professor in the department of engineering. She is also founding director for the Center for Gaming and Simulation (CGS), a research lab with a mission of designing and developing models and frameworks for educational games and interactive e-tools.
