FAQ

What is eLearning and how does it differ from Distance Learning?
eLearning has gained currency as a term that includes distance and distributive learning. Instead of giving focus to content or discipline, eLearning emphasizes the methodologies through which learning takes place: computer-enhanced learning, with aid of mobile technologies and use of web-based teaching materials. For these reasons, eLearning is preferred among business, industry, and other providers targeting audiences and new markets; it is a method that minimizes costs, time, geography, and personnel, but simultaneously increases flexibility, currency, and collaborative management.

For Norfolk State University the eLearning supports alignment of a broader range of services. The Office of eLearning’ s mission provides coordination and support services to Norfolk State University’s educational divisions for the comprehensive infusion of technology across the curriculum utilizing electronic learning initiatives, which include distance learning, blended learning, and face-to-face instructional technology and pedagogical best practices that enhance student success in the global marketplace.
