Mission Statement

The Ethelyn R. Strong School of Social Work provides Social Work education through Its
BSW, MSW, Ph.D. and continuing education programs.

The School's mission is to provide Social Work education programs that prepare
students with competence to develop and deliver services that strengthen and/or empower
individuals, families, and communities and to provide research, leadership, and education
for community wellness.

The Ethelyn R, Strong School of Social Work is committed to responding to the needs
of the community through academic instruction, research, and community service.

In its special training initiatives, the School has committed itself to strengthening families,
enhancing the lives of children, and promoting diversity.

The critical needs in Child Welfare are of special concern within the School and University.
Therefore the School supports the national goals for children in the Child Welfare system,
which includes safety, permanency, and well-being.
