About Us

Child Welfare Education and Support Program is a statewide partnership between the
Virginia Department of Social Services, Norfolk State University , Virginia Commonwealth University
and Radford University.

The Norfolk State University Child Welfare Student Educational Stipend Program provides MSW
and BSW education and competency-based child welfare training to students enrolled in The Ethelyn
R. Strong School of Social Work.

The mission of this program is to recruit and train Social Work students to work in Virginia 's Child
Welfare system and provide leadership in the promotion of continuous improvement in the delivery
of Child Welfare services within the Commonwealth of Virginia.
