The mission of Norfolk State University School of Social
Work Outreach Services is to implement and support enduring projects that
will enhance communities, aid individuals in developing their personal
capacities and promote the University.
The School of Social Work Outreach Services
receive funds
from federal, state, city and private sources that enable us to address critical
issues that threaten quality of life. Over the past thirteen years we have
utilized grant funds to revitalize surrounding communities, provide jobs,
enhance small businesses and promote academic achievement. In collaboration
with local organizations and other stakeholders we serve our neighbors.
Outreach Services offers many of its programs
through the University owned and operated community center located in the
heart of the central Brambleton community. We operate with a faculty and
staff of ten, along with numerous students and volunteers. Our programs
serve community youth, senior citizens, adults and the Norfolk State
University family. Our programs are educational, recreational, cultural and
social in nature. Programs provide opportunities for:
