The Ernest M. Hodge Center for Entrepreneurship

In November 2010, students from across all academic areas of Norfolk State University submitted their business plans to the panel of six judges (5 NSU professors and a successful local entrepreneur and NSU graduate) chaired by Dr. Whaley, a senior member of the faculty at the School of Business. Ms. St. Ann, a graduating senior and major in Early Childhood Development NCOP with a minor in Military Science won the $2,000 1st Place prize. She presented a very original business concept titled “U.S. Military First Family Agency.” Mr. James Henry Brown, the runner-up, and winner of $1,000, is a graduating senior and with a major in Entrepreneurship.  His business concept was titled “Last Round: Sports Bar and Grille.” Both winners plan on becoming entrepreneurs by implementing their winning business models. The main goal of the Ernest M. Hodge Entrepreneurship Center is to inspire the spirit of entrepreneurship, and to promote entrepreneurial education and practice.
