Vanessa Caldwell Jenkins, M.S.  Senior Staff Counselor, Acting Director

Vanessa Caldwell Jenkins received her M.S. degree in Criminal Justice and Counseling from Coppin State University in Baltimore, Maryland. She is a doctoral candidate in the School of Education at NOVA Southeastern University

Ms. Jenkins is actively involved in women services. She has been practicing as a counselor for the past 17 years. Ms. Jenkins is a former member of Jerry Kilgore’s Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Advisory Board, a current board member of Virginia Batterers Certification Board, a board member of Norfolk Drug Foundation, and a Spartan Leadership Institute participant. She is also the current chairperson for the NSU Sexual Assault Response Team (SART).

Lori M Hobson M.S. Ed., Senior Staff Counselor

Lori M Hobson received her M.S. degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Hunter College, part of the City University of New York. Ms. Hobson is also a Spartan. She received her B.A. in Psychology from Norfolk State University. Currently Ms. Hobson is pursuing her Doctorate at Nova Southeastern University. Her concentration is Organizational Leadership.

She is actively involved with: The Virginia Alcohol Leadership Council and The Virginia Tidewater Consortium for Higher Education's Substance Abuse Committee. She is also a member of the American Society for Training and Development. She has been practicing as a counselor for more than 20 years.

Camilla Hunter, B.S., Program Administration Specialist 

Camilla Hunter received a B.S. degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Old Dominion University and an A.A.S. degree in General/Special Education from Tidewater Community College in Norfolk, Virginia.  She has worked as an Administrative and Program Specialist for more than ten years with experience in office management, advanced program administration and support to senior level management. She is a member of the Norfolk State University Association of Educational Office Professionals and the Golden Key Honor Society.

Graduate Student Counselors

Graduate student counselors also provide counseling services at the Center. They are closely supervised in their work by senior counselor staff.  The graduate students who provide services at the Counseling Center are enrolled in the Virginia Consortium Program in Clinical Psychology, NSU Masters Program in Clinical Psychology, and NSU Masters Program in Social Work.
