Policy Statement
NSU Career Services (CS) practices Equal Employment
Opportunity Guidelines and abides by Principles for
professional conduct career services and Employment
Professionals of the National Association of Colleges and
Employers.
NSU students and graduates using NSU CS are
expected to abide by the National Association Code of Ethics
as well as guidelines and standards established by CS.
Services and programs are available to all matriculating
students and graduates of Norfolk State University.
Registration To receive the full range of Placement and
Career Services, students must be registered with CS.
Registration and the maintenance of a credentials file is a
requirement for seniors seeking CS assistance for Placement
in Professional Career Positions upon graduation.
Registered
students are added to the CS mailing list and receive
priority consideration for the on-campus referral program.
Registration includes: completing the placement and career
development authorization form and providing five copies of
your resume to CS.
Resources Career Information Library: NSU CS maintains
information on occupations, graduate and professional
schools, employers, salaries, job findings, resume writing,
and interview skill development. A number of free
publications are also available.
Self-Instruction Programs Audio and video cassettes and workbooks are
available in CS.
Company Information Research companies of interest to you using
employer literature in CS.
Job Interview Rooms As you develop your job interview skills,
arrange to conduct mock interviews in one of CS interview
rooms.
Networking With assistance from CS, develop an employer
network to enhance a winning job search effort.
On-Campus Recruitment CS sponsored recruitment is conducted
throughout the school year. The schedule can be picked up in
the CSC (Rooms 306/311).
