Medical Technology

A program designed to prepare students to meet competencies required to become a medical technologist/clinical laboratory scientist. The program includes instruction in the performance of laboratory tests, their interpretation and their correlation in determining the absence, presence, and extent of diseases.

Students completing this program will be awarded the Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology, and are eligible to take a national certifying examination.

The Medical Technology Program is accredited by:

Curriculum

Criteria for Admission Medical Technology Professional Phase (preclinical and clinical portions)

Upon admission to Norfolk State University, the student may declare Medical Technology as a major. Students including transfer students, must first complete all courses comprising the pre-professional phase of the curriculum before seeking admission to the professional phase.

At the time of the admission, applicants are given a copy of the Medical Technology Program's Technical Standards.
