VBHEC Room Reservation
Room Use Guidelines
Use of the facility by an outside agency is permitted
under specific guidelines in accordance with the
University’s educational mission. As you complete the media
and room request form, please consider the following
guidelines below.
Room Reservation Form
Access
The
VBHEC follows the regular academic calendar. Regular
semester operating hours are Monday through Friday: 8a.m. to
10p.m. Saturday: 8a.m. to 5:30p.m. Event organizers are
permitted to enter the building for set-up purposes one-half
hour prior to regular schedule opening. Room assignments are
posted on plasma display monitor located at the front
entrance across from the administration area.
Parking
Parking is decal controlled. Arrangements may be made with
Parking Services, Johnnie Hendrickson (757) 368-4138. Lot 3
is reserved for special events participants. Follow the
“Special Events” signs to lot 3 to avoid a ticket.
Room Use
If you need to reconfigure
the seating for your event, you may as long as you return
the room to its original seating configuration at the
conclusion of each daily session. Please keep the doors
closed during the event as courtesy to other center users.
Our students are subject to exams at any time, so we ask
that you keep the noise level to a minimum. Please do not
congregate in the hallways or in the lobby area. Disruptive
behavior, especially when it interferes with the educational
opportunities of other students, will not be tolerated.
Prior to leaving please
erase the whiteboard, push the chairs in, remove all program
materials such as flip chart pages, place the A-V cart in
the corner of the room, pull the overhead screen up, and
return the lectern to the instructor’s table at the front,
center of the room. See staff member at the IRC desk, room
146, to request housekeeping staff assistance.
Audio /
Visual Equipment
Computer lab space
requires an NSU Faculty sponsor and is coordinated with Dr.
Howard Kinlaw, Technology Manager (757) 683-4158 or by email
at hkinlaw@nsu.edu
. Please identify your request for audio-visual equipment
needs on the Room Request form, as some of the classrooms
have media installed. We also have a limited number of items
available on a first come, first serve basis.
Catering
Waves Café’ has an
exclusive contract to provide all food and beverages. Please
contact Gail Selph, Waves Manager, (757)
368-4140
to make arrangements. The back-up contact is Larry Hogge
(757) 683-3426. Please allow adequate time to set up and
clean up for each session, especially if you are having
refreshments.
Telephone
/ Photo Copier
Pay telephones are located
in the lobby for use by participants. Please understand that
the desk phones are for university business only. There is a
pay photo copier available at the IRC, and the cost is 10
cents per copy.
Vending
Machine
Vending machines are
located near the lounge area (through the double doors) on
the first floor on the Princess Anne Road side of the
building. For assistance, please see staff at IRC, room 146.

Upon
approval by the center director, request for
space are accommodated on a first come,
first serve basis. Fees may be charged.
Requests for non-traditional room set-up
will incur additional charges.

and turn in all requests two weeks prior to
your event. |
