The course is centered on performing EKG’s and interpreting EKG results through practical skills, demonstrations and hands-on learning.  Laboratory assessments skills, which consist of non-invasive procedures, will be performed in a professional manner on classmates.  Methods of treatments and Advanced Cardiac Life Support techniques are discussed.  After completion of this class, students will eligible to apply for EKG certification.

This Introduction class focuses on learning the rules for the CPT, ICD-0-CM, and Level II HCPCS coding systems.  It also includes applying the rules to code patient services and much, much more.

Refresher Class

This class is designed for individuals who work in the Medical Billing and Coding Field and those who have completed the class but never took the exam. It is not an introductory class; the student must have experience and/or training in the field.

Phlebotomy Technicians (Phlebotomists) are an integral part of the medical laboratory team whose primary function is the collection of blood samples from patients by venipuncture or microtechniques. Phlebotomists are in demand for positions in laboratories, hospitals, clinics, and physician offices. Lab tests, ordered by physicians, are a key component to diagnosing and treatment of patients. The phlebotomist facilitates the collection and transportation of laboratory specimens, and is often the patient’s only contact with the medical laboratory. The need to assure quality and patient safety mandates strict professional behavior and standards of practice in any clinical environment.

Language (ASL) emphasizes conversational skills which includes basic sentence structure of ASL, finger spelling and numbers. Classroom work stresses practice of conversational ASL, both expressive and receptive; also, introduces to the American Deaf Culture and Health Care Signs that will be utilized in the field

An introductory class which provides an understanding of medical abbreviations and terms. It includes the study of prefixes, word stems, and technical terms with emphasis on proper spelling, pronunciation, and usage; emphasizing more complex skills and techniques in understanding medical terminology. .
