    NSU Faculty and Staff:

We are pleased to share with you the attached document from the Virginia Liaison Office titled “American Recovery & Reinvestment Act Competitive Grant Alerts.”  On February 17, 2009, President Barack Obama signed into law the American and Reinvestment Act  (ARRA) to stimulate the U.S. Economy by creating jobs.  Under ARRA, a number of federal and state agencies have released new program announcements to aid in our country’s economic recovery.  ARRA funding is to be distributed within only two years.  For this reason, we encourage our faculty and staff to work with the Office of Sponsored Programs and NSU’s Research Coordinators to take advantage of these opportunities and submit applications for funding.  The attached document created by the Virginia Liaison Office contains funding opportunities available under ARRA.  Funding opportunities from agencies such as the U.S. Department of Defense to the U.S. Department of Education are included and focus on a wide-array of disciplines such as the sciences, technology, arts and letters, education, etc.   Deadline dates and program funding levels are provided.   Please feel free to contact the Office of Sponsored Programs at (757) 823-9053 should you have further questions or require assistance.
