 Residential LifeHOUSEKEEPING SERVICES

As a resident of University Housing, you are responsible for keeping your room clean. The housekeeping staff is NOT responsible for cleaning individual rooms. 

Students are encouraged to bring a small waste basket (3-5 gal.), broom, mop, and cleaning supplies to keep their room clean. All rooms are subject to inspection by staff.




 

IN-HOUSE COMPUTER LABS

Each residence hall has a computer lab for students to use as needed. The computer labs close nightly at 12:00am. Students are encouraged to utilize the labs and may be granted access after hours, if needed. Please see the desk attendant if access is desired after hours.

MAINTENANCE ISSUES

The Office of Facilities Management provides maintenance and repair services to all residence halls except Spartan Suites. Both the Office of Residence Life & Housing and the Office of Facilities Management are committed to providing well-maintained facilities to ensure an environment conducive to living and learning.

Students should report maintenance request through:

For emergency repairs students should use:

Notify your Residence Hall Coordinator, Graduate Assistant, or Resident Assistant.

 Housing Maintenance Hotline Voicemail Notification – (757) 823-2178 (available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week)

 Emergency requests should be reported immediately and will be completed within twenty-four hours. All non-emergency requests will be completed within 7-10 business days of receipt of the request. Students who are not satisfied with their maintenance concerns should contact our office at (757) 823-8407 or email us at fixit@nsu.edu

Note:  All maintenance requests are electronically processed through the MP2 maintenance reporting database. The Office of Facilities Management will dispatch technicians based on the urgency of the situation and the pre-established priority ratings scale.

 


 

PERSONAL PROPERTY INSURANCE

NSU is NOT responsible for the loss of or damage to any student’s personal property from any cause. It is strongly recommended that students purchase personal property insurance. Information on personal property insurance is included in each student’s housing assignment packet. Students may also request a brochure from our office at any time during the semester.
