QUALIFICATIONS

  • studentsAt least one semester of previous experience living in a residence hall community is required.

  • The RA must be a sophomore, junior or senior at the time of his/her appointment.

  • The RA must be a full-time undergraduate student enrolled for 12-16 credit hours, and must maintain at least a 2.5 GPA during his/her tenure. Additional hours must be approved by the Assistant Director of Residence Life.

  • The RA must display leadership qualities or characteristics, as evidenced by previous leadership experiences and recommendations.

  • The RA candidate is required to be in good disciplinary standing with the university. Candidates currently serving probation and/or have current judicial sanctions are not eligible for employment. Having a disciplinary history with the university or with the department does not eliminate a candidate from consideration, but the nature of the incident(s) may have bearing. All candidates' disciplinary history will be checked with the Office of Student  Services & Judicial Affairs.

  • The RA must display a high level of maturity exhibited in sound judgment, emotional stability, flexibility and willingness to accept responsibility, as well as strong interpersonal skills through proven ability to interact effectively with others as perceived through the RA selection process.
