WELCOME TO LIFE ON CAMPUS!
It's more than just a room with a bed and a desk.
Norfolk State University residence halls offer a variety
of accommodations that reflect the diversity of our
student population. You'll learn from each other and
together you can broaden your college experience and
create life-long bonds with your classmates and fellow
hall-mates.
The deadline for priority housing for the fall
semester is May 31st. The deadline for the spring semester
is November 1st. Students may apply on-line or by regular
mail. A non-refundable $300.00 deposit is required at
the time of application. The Office of Residence Life
& Housing will attempt to accommodate roommate requests
made on or before the deadline; however, we cannot guarantee
preferred roommate accommodations at any time as housing
is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Students
desiring to become roommates should apply for housing
and pay their housing deposit at the same time or within
a 48-hour timeframe in order to increase the likelihood
of preferred roommate accommodations.
We will not process any incomplete housing applications
or applications submitted without the required $300
non-refundable deposit.
Students who apply for housing on or before the May
31st deadline will receive their housing assignment
via mail after June 16th. For the spring semester, students
who apply on or before November 1st will receive
their housing assignment via mail after December
1st. Students
who apply after the deadline will be granted on-campus
housing pending availability.
Many of our students choose to participate in
The
Residential First Year Experience (R-FYE) or in
one of our
Living/Learning
Communities (LLCs). Participation in these programs
will partially determine housing placement, as each
program is housed in a specific building. The Office
of Residence Life & Housing offers valuable programming
within the R-FYE program as well as the LLCs. We also
offer a myriad of programs for all resident students.
Our programs are holistic in nature and provide students
an opportunity to broaden their horizons, engage in
intellectual conversations, expand their viewpoints,
and enhance their academic experience. Whether it's
participating in a fashion show, eating pizza in their
hall lobby with their floor-mates, attending a seminar
on how to write a resume, or listening to a lecture
on the African Diaspora, our Residence Life staff works
hard to ensure there is something of interest happening
for every student!
