NSU Hosts Focus The Nation: Global Warming

Norfolk State University
Norfolk State University has made a commitment to do its part to help eliminate global warming. The university’s recently renovated Robinson Technology Building is certified as a Leadership in Energy and Environmentally Design (LEEDS) structure. Additionally, NSU refurbished and upgraded all lighting, HVAC, plumbing, and energy management systems, resulting in a 35 percent reduction in energy consumption.
NSU is a member of the Virginia Coastal Energy Research Consortium which was established in Chapter 6 of the Virginia Energy Plan by the Assembly of the Commonwealth. Sciences Applications International Corporation has been designated by the General Assembly as the industry partner in this statewide inter-university network. Dr. Sissoko and Dr. Melinda Harris from the School of Business represents the university on the Consortium.
Mr. Neil Randorf, Vice President of Sciences Applications International Corporation (SAIC) and his intern Mr. Gregory Hodges will be guest presenters at the Symposium.

Focus the Nation is a national educational initiative on global warming solutions for America that will culminate January 31st, 2008 in symposia held simultaneously at over a thousand colleges, universities, high schools and other institutions.
