Football
Rushed 21 times for a career-high 181 yards and a touchdown in the Spartans' 17-14 win over Winston-Salem State...had runs of 49 and 53 yards...topped the 1,000 yard mark for the season...scored the go-ahead touchdown with 13:43 left in the game.
Women's Basketball
Scored a total of 44 points in the Spartans' first three games, hitting 44 percent of her field goals...had 11 points, six rebounds and five steals in the season-opening loss to Miami...had 22 points, five assists and five rebounds against Stetson...added 11 points, three rebounds and two steals at William & Mary.

NORFOLK, Va. - The NSU men's basketball team hosts its 2008-09 home opener on Tuesday night when the Jacksonville State Gamecocks visit Echols Hall. Tip off is at 7 p.m.

The Spartans will be looking to end a three-game losing streak after dropping a 75-52 decision on Sunday evening at Air Force. Jacksonville State, under first-year head coach James Green, is on a four-game winning streak after a 95-67 win over VMI on Saturday in Alabama.

NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State University athletics department will sponsor a toy and canned food drive at the Spartan men’s basketball game on Tuesday, Dec. 2 against Jacksonville State. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Echols Hall.

11.30 | Women's Basketball

NORFOLK, Va. — Jessica Canady had game-highs of 24 points and 19 rebounds as the No. 23/20 Old Dominion women’s basketball team defeated Norfolk State 97-54 on Sunday afternoon at the Ted Constant Convocation Center. It was the first meeting between the two teams in almost 26 years.

ODU (4-2) opened the game on a 15-0 run and led by 20, 25-5, with 10:23 left in the first half. The Lady Monarchs led by as many as 25, 41-16 after a layup by Canady with 1:16 left in the opening period. NSU (0-4) went into the half down 44-20.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Anwar Johnson had 17 points to lead four Air Force players in double figures, and the Falcons hit 11-of-20 from behind the 3-point arc to beat Norfolk State for the third straight year, 75-52 on Sunday afternoon at Clune Arena.

Matt Holland (15 points) and Andrew Henke (14) combined for 29 points and seven 3-pointers for Air Force (4-2), which shot 51 percent from the floor.

NORFOLK, Va. — The Norfolk State women’s basketball team will take on No. 20 Old Dominion at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Ted Constant Center.

NSU fell to 0-3 on the season after a 98-38 rout at William & Mary on Nov. 20. The Spartans shot just 23.3 percent (14-of-60) from the field for the game and had a season-high 37 turnovers. Old Dominion is coming off a 74-48 loss at Michigan State on Wednesday. The Lady Monarchs were limited to 27.8 percent (15-of-74) shooting from the floor for the game, were outrebounded 49-34 and committed 19 turnovers.

NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State University baseball coach Claudell Clark announced Wednesday the signing of four high school seniors to national letters-of-intent to play for the Spartans beginning in 2009-10.

The recruits are right handed pitcher Greg Abetz (Norfolk, Va./Granby HS), second baseman/shortstop Sammy Serafine (Chesapeake, Va./Greenbrier Christian), first baseman/outfielder Shane Hoggard (Hampton, Va./Bethel HS), and catcher Ryan Montgomery (Prince George, Va./Prince George HS).

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Manny Harris led all players with 16 points and was one of five Wolverines in double figures as host Michigan toppled Norfolk State 83-49 on Tuesday night at Crisler Arena.

Harris also pulled down a game-high 15 rebounds for Michigan (4-1), which outrebounded NSU 53-37.
