Summer Bridge Program

The Spartans Preparing for Academic Rigor in College (SPARC) Summer Bridge Program is an invaluable resource for incoming first-year students. During this four-week, academic enrichment program engaged students gain tools and resources that help with the transition into their first year of college. Participants also have an opportunity to earn college credit in English or mathematics.

SPARC's mission is to strengthen students’ academic skills, enhance their first-year experience in college and promote student success. Program activities are geared toward helping students meet the rigor and demands of college coursework and establishing professional and academic expectations. SPARC participants also become familiar with the Norfolk State University community and campus life ahead of their peers.

SPARC 2019
Starting in 2019, the SPARC Summer Bridge Program will focus on incoming students based on their high school academic credentials. Students who are eligible will receive an invitation to apply for the SPARC program along with their acceptance letter from Norfolk State University. Space is limited, so invitees should apply as soon as possible and before the deadline.

Led by staff in the Dr. Patricia Lynch Stith Student Success Center, SPARC   is the result of successful partnerships across the Norfolk State University campus. Contributors include: the Provost's Office, the Admissions Office, the Registrar's Office, Housing and Residence Life, the English and Math departments, peer mentors and tutors and many more.

Join SPARC and be part a quintessential Norfolk State University experience.
